Drawing Attention to your Writing Craft through Presentation.
Writing Craft. With writing content. Any professional writer, in my opinion, may agree that writing is a rather crafty art. And the presentation is where it all starts. Be it a book cover, blog post featured image.
And even a social networking post. Presentation is everything and should create curiosity. AKA – The bounce rate killer.
But how do you draw attention? The answer is rather simple, through images and video presentation. And there are 3 focus points when designing an image or video thumbnail for presentation.
- Focus image text to the centre of the image.
- Address a common need within your niche.
- Offer a solution that works but Never a sales pitch.
Writing craft is an exciting journey. But competitive writing requires maximum effort. Because you are competing with other writers. The light at the end of the proverbial tunnel, however. Is determined by your knowledge on the subject or topic.
While images and videos are the primary means to draw attention. The first 4 – 5 lines of your content is of equal importance. But we will discuss all these techniques during this presentation.
Expository writing is one of the most common types of writing. When an author writes in an expository style, all they are trying to do is explain a concept, imparting information from themselves to a wider audience – Source
Dissecting the 3 focus points of Writing Craft and Presentation.
Why must image content be focused on the centre of the image? Because search results on mobile devices now display the image in search result pages. Adding to user experience, a huge SEO ranking factor in 2020. The image is slightly reduced from both sides.
There are several image designs programs. Personally, I rather enjoy Canva. Because image designs can also be downloaded with animation. Which creates traffic opportunities with sites like GIPHY. But that is a topic for another time perhaps.
Considering something like “The Only Thing Stopping You is You!”. It raises curiosity addressing a common need for success. See how this works? And then use a background image that trumpets your message.
But the phrase also offers the solution. Find what is stopping you on how to move on! With presentation, inspiration tends to do rather well. Sales pitches, however, does not! When your content (writing craft), presentation and design are focused on quality. You will never have to sales pitch again…ever!
Recognition is worth more than all the sales and island holidays. And recognition is built through curiosity, fueled by impressive presentation. Make your presentation impossible to ignore. And your content useful because audiences appreciate solutions.
No matter how many facts or charts need to be presented, incorporating stories into a presentation will keep your audience focused and intrigued – Source
The Craft of Writing Curios Content to Annihilate Bounce Rate.
Among several writing techniques, I have tested over the years. Creating curiosity will always be the undisputed champion. Because that is what keeps your reader reading. Curiosity is what turns a click into a visitor and ultimately a subscriber.
And considering written content, the use of transitional words is of paramount importance. A transition word connects sentences. Words like Therefore and Because are examples of transition words.
Easily access a list of English transition words by entering the search phrase into your browser. It keeps the reader interested because it suggests a next step closer to the solution.
Why the first 4 – 5 lines of written content is so important? Because with blogging those will show as a meta description. Except for where the blogger wrote a separate meta description. It must state precisely what the content is about.
Slowly occupy the reader with new curiosities (writing craft). Mentioning things like How I came up with the phrase “The Only Thing Stopping You is You!” Through trial and error. And through failure when realizing that my own doubts were the only thing stopping me.
Writing a blog post is a little like driving; you can study the highway code (or read articles telling you how to write a blog post) for months, but nothing can prepare you for the real thing like getting behind the wheel and hitting the open road – Source
The role of the Crafty Writer and Ability to Inspire.
Many writers often face the question “Am I good enough of a writer?” Well, you will never know unless you keep writing. A true writer has imagination. I know I do. Therefore, jokes to me are so much funnier.
Writers do not “open the door and step into the sunlight”. No, a writer “slowly opens the door with that dry hinge squeaking. Bare feet shuffling on the raw wooden floor. While the golden rays of the morning Sun softly touch his/her face.”
Writing craft is an art and the perfect means to keep readers entertained. Just offer value and connect with your reader. Do enough research to know what your audience is struggling with most. Then spend weeks researching and testing until you find a solution to share.
This presentation technique has seen a spike in my Quora content views to over 4.5K per day! With 6 new Quora Spaces gaining traction at over 2000 followers combined within the first month. But requires a lot of time designing, writing, posting, and sharing.
We want to connect the people who have the knowledge to the people who need it, to bring together people with different perspectives so they can understand each other better, and to empower everyone to share their knowledge for the benefit of the rest of the world – Source
Strategic Writing Craft and Target Keyword Placement.
Writing a competitive article is one thing. Writing a competitive SEO post is much the same but with more focus on strategic keyword placement. With a little advantage called LSI keywords, a less spoken about topic.
LSI keywords can easily be researched with a tool called LSI Graph. Now LSI keywords are often confused with synonyms, which they are not. LSI keywords are keywords related to but not exactly like the target keyword.
And it can be rather confusing right? Well, allow me to demonstrate. Let us use a target keyword like “jogging”. The synonyms may be words like “running” or “walking”. While LSI keywords will be “running shoes” or “sneakers” or perhaps “heart monitor”. See where this is going?
Target keywords Complimented by LSI Search Phrases.
Include some LSI search phrases (additional writing craft) in the body of the article or post content. It helps both search engines and readers to better understand your content. Contributing to user experience for both your most important assets. Search engines and your readers or visitors.
Always try to place target keywords and search phrases as close to the beginning of the title as possible. Be it a Blog Title (H1 Header) or a Post and Page Title (H2 Header). The H3, H4 and H5 Headers are often titles to Images and Widgets. Along with Tags and categories.
Our keyword research tool gives you insight into how often certain words are searched and how those searches have changed over time. This can help you narrow your keyword list down to the ones you really want – Source
Word Count and suggested Writing Style Content Length.
Readability plays a huge role in the user experience. Hence the focus necessity on the first 4 – 5 sentences. Therefore, sentences should not exceed 20 words. While fewer are advised because you may want to try and minimize using commas.
Make sentences shorter which makes it not only easier to read. But also, easier to understand and remember. These are important thoughts to consider when writing content. Basically, it is all about creating a reason for your visitor or reader to continue reading to the end.
Paragraphs too should be slightly shorter. Which is why with WordPress blogging it is important to use the WordPress Gutenberg Blocks Editor Plugin. Paragraphs can range from 80 – 150 which normally are around 4 – 5 sentences. But when you use subheadings in blog posts (which you should).
To check word count, simply place your cursor into the text box above and start typing. You will see the number of characters and words increase or decrease as you type, delete, and edit them – Source

What a wonderful technical article!! So many great recommendations, especially about creating “curiosity” – the lack of which is a bounce rate killer. Such great advice contained herein. Will definitely be returning to read again and follow your tips.

Deon, I think I am a crafty writer. But I am too new to figure out if what I write is of any interest. Funny, sure to me. To others, maybe not so much. I do love the blog though. By the way, I hate wooden floors. I’m a lush, toe hugging squishy carpet guy.
Hi Lee,
Pleasure making your acquaintance and welcome to my blog. I’m more of a wooden floors and tiles kind of person…lol! Wood makes me feel rather comfortable. I left a comment on your post about beliefs. Outstanding post, well done! There is nothing wrong with your writing. You are doing just fine buddy. Allow me to suggest you install the Grammarly extension for Chrome and Firefox. It has helped me immensely with my English writing skills. And perhaps check out my post on the Gutenberg Blocks Editor plugin. I find these tools rather helpful for both writing skill improvement and SEO.
I struggled for years, literally. But luckily I’m a research junkie and too stubborn to quit. What can I say? If “they” can do it? Then so can I, right? Affiliate marketing and blogging fascinate me. And a really important SEO fact I have learned is that volume means nothing without quality. You can end up creating a much higher income with fewer traffic numbers than you think. Allow me to invite you to subscribe to my blog notification (red bell, bottom left).
