Welcome to affiliate marketing and the journey through online marketing with Deon Christie. Allegedly affiliate marketing must be one of the easiest ways to make money online. But don’t be misdirected by the word “easy”. Because misdirection is how you will fail horribly at affiliate marketing. In fact, over 95% of people starting with affiliate marketing.
End up failing and when the desperation becomes reality they give up. When it’s all about to keep going until you succeed. And not until you grow tired of trying. It takes years to acquire the tools needed to be successful online. Be it affiliate marketing or otherwise.
For me, affiliate marketing has so many different things to enjoy. But it’s the fascination with the topic that drives me most. “How to make money online”. A concept I even doubted at some point in time. Because I kept hitting that brick wall called traffic. And the other brick wall called a conversion.
Really close to each other these two. It felt like the one impact after the other with affiliate marketing. And today I’m glad I didn’t give up when I considered the option to do so.
Where it all started for me.
My journey into affiliate marketing to make money online. It started way back in 2012. Fueled by curiosity or rather a determination. Because if other people can make money online, then so can I. Having but one advantage which is my love for writing. From articles to blog posts and even poems. I started exploring the options to leverage affiliate marketing with writing.
But truth be told I was not computer literate at all. Perhaps even go so far to say rather technologically challenged. But then there is nothing that time and research cannot remedy. So, I just kept going. Failure after failure again and again.

I seriously started considering having a blog. But SEO scared the daylight out of me. It appeared so technical and difficult. When in fact the most difficult part of SEO is time. And the most frustrating part is waiting.

Getting exposure (traffic) is the most important part of affiliate marketing. So, I tested a mountain of systems and programs. I soon learned however that knowledge gained is worth more than a system that makes money. Because knowledge is how you develop your own ideas and methods. Which later can be launched as a digital product.

Where my blogging SEO knowledge proved rather useful. Because video and blog SEO are pretty much the same. With a few minor differences. My journey also took me to email safe lists and email list building. With auto responders like Get Response and A Webber.
As mentioned before, I jumped through all the hoops. With little to no results in return. Which made me realize. There is only one thing standing between any affiliate marketer and success. It’s called traffic or visitors.
And getting visitors to an affiliate link especially is not quite so easy as is often suggested. You always need a method (Blogs, Email Lists, Classified Ads, Social Groups and Pages) to effectively drive traffic to an affiliate link.
